Hope at the Lake is tonight!!!!

We have been fortunate to be the designers for the Hope at the Lake event. The event is being held at The Dale Earnhardt facility in Mooresville and most importantly it benefits the families with children who are battling cancer at Levine Children’s Hospital and Brenner Children’s Hospital.

Still setting up, but here is a sneak peak..

The inspiration for the event came from the waters of Monaco with a Retro Riviera feel….

Art Nouveau in Riga Latvia

I always knew that I wanted to visit the great cities of the Baltic Sea, however I did not know how beautiful and unique cities could be, even after wars, occupation and ultimately re-emerging as free nations.  Riga Latvia is one that took my breath away.

Known as having the finest collection of Art Nouveau buildings is all of Europe the city is a maze of beautiful intricate linear designs, flowing curves and magnificent details.  Everywhere you look you can see the natural elements these masters capture in their designs.  Mikhael Eisenstein is one of the most notable architects of the period (1890-1910).

Unlike the stiffer sensibilities of Victorian style, Art Nouveau stressed a complete creative freedom, mixing fantastic elements with a tendency to show all utilitarian construction elements as artistic value, with very characteristic elements such as dynamic, undulating, and flowing lines and geometrical ornaments. In Riga, Art Nouveau could be split into two main directions, decorative and romantic-nationalistic Art Nouveau. (From Riga-life.com)

Please enjoy my photos of a few of these buildings. …

The Birth Place of a Golden Girl

Another island in the middle of the Baltic Sea was Visby Sweden.  It was the center of merchandise trade in 900 AD and is known as the best preserved medieval walled city in the Baltic. (Is that redundant?)  Little did we know that it also was the home of St Olaf!  Isn’t that where Rose from the Golden Girls was from?  AND they had abundant rose gardens!
